Certifications

GLOBAL G.A.P. It is an internationally recognized standard for agricultural production. The goal is safe and sustainable production in order to benefit producers, retailers and consumers in all parts of the world.

The GLOBAL G.A.P. covers: Food safety and traceability, environment, health, safety, worker welfare, production processes, integrated pest management, quality management systems, risk analysis and critical control points.
The BRC standard is a global food safety standard that pursues the standardization of quality, safety, and hygienic handling criteria for food, as well as ensuring that food manufacturers comply with their legal obligations and provide due consumer protection.

This standard was created by the British Retail Consortim to ensure supplier compliance and provide a tool to ensure the quality and safety of food products.

GRASP stands for “GLOBALG.A.P. Risk assessment in social practice”. This is a voluntary farm-level social/labour management tool for global supply chains used in conjunction with the Integrated Farm Assurance (IFA) standard.

SMETA is the social audit standard that brings together good practices in an ethical audit technique. By using SMETA, a supplier can carry out one audit and share it with costumers, instead of having to do different audits for each client. The SMETA methodology uses the ETI code and local laws as the assessment tool. It includes four modules:

  • Health and security
  • Labor standards
  • Environment
  • Business ethics

FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA)

The Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) is a reform, which was signed into law by Ex-President Obama in 2011. Its goal is to ensure that the United States food supply is safe by shifting the focus dedicated to the response from pollution to prevention. It includes five main elements:

  • Preventive controls
  • Inspection and compliance
  • Imported food safety
  • Intervention
  • Strengthening collaborations
